February 17th, 2008 | Avital Alperin you guys were great!
i really hope to you guys again sometime soon
February 10th, 2008 | Steve Hertz Wonderful CD! I've never heard anything like it before. It's really quite mindblowing what some real creativity could bring. I have listned to all the songs and I could honestly say I love them all...however I dont understand Shiru. What does it have to do with Patznech Eryein? Are the two related? I've come up with my own interpertation..perhaps if you had some time I could explain. But I just wanted to share my real blessings on a great album. Amazing guitar and horn sections. Keep rockin!
PHP >>>> Mr. Hertz,
We would love to hear your interpretation of Pintzach Araiyn; we're sure your theory is quite facsinating. Unfortunately, however, Suzy - who runs the Pintzach Araiyn Division @ PHP Headquarters - is overbooked with fans who have been on a waiting list for several years in pursuit of this very aspiration. Indeed, solving the mystery of Pintzach is a lofty goal - one with which many a PHP Head pursues with diligence and perseverance.
You may dial your extension at any time during this recording.

February 10th, 2008 | Eli Spalter I just picked up a few copies of the CD, (good music makes a good gift, no?) and was blown away. A long way since that first demo....
Yashar Koach and mazal tov on the album,

Thank you for your soothing words.
Would you like to join the word-soothing team @ the Tri-annual PHP Olympics?
Basically, the goal is to take as many words as you can within the span of 3 minutes, and soothe them like crazy; hence the term "word-soothing" from the Latin phrase "wurd-sithing."
If you are interested in trying out for the team, contact Bruno, a PHP Word-Soother since virtuousis were playing soccer in the plig.

February 6th, 2008 | Shlomo Glass glad 2 hear that you got the album done. I still have the demo and now that ur gettin rich and famous i'll be able to sell that signature.

dearest daniel,
we remember the days when we were "little schnitzels" - as you so elegantly remarked -- and we shed a tear of nostalgia upon such reflection.

January 28th, 2008 | Yakov i see the phish show pictures in the video section (i would recognize that lighting rig anywhere) but when i downloaded the video...
PHP >>>
Yakov, great to hear from you.
Yes, there has been much confusion amongst PHP-heads regarding the PHISH pics - -
Truthfully, Phish has requested some PR help from PHP inc., so we figured we'd give Trey & friends some publicity on our site.
Those clips were taken when PHISH opened for PHP at the garden in the late 90's.
Good times.

PHP >>>
Aryeh,
thank you for the woooooh.
you put 5 "O"s in the "Wooooh" which presumably hints to your position as the fifth member of P H P.
Deep stuff dude.
You see, we at the PHP center for spiritual evolution have high standards for our members. Your ability to incorporate such placigacity (not a real word, but will this become a splinter upon duality?) is what makes you such a special member of the purple herring journey.
(Aryeh is also a hunk)
see you at practice - Thursday night @ Lyrics - - btw - bring a Capo for Yedid.

January 14th, 2008 | yirmi g "Part of His Plan"
You see, the ultimate goal of a yid is to understand his role in the Almighty's grand design, and to act toward fulfilling that role. Creating inspiring music--nourishment for the neshama!--is PHP's way of doing their small part to sanctify the world and bring joy to Hashem and His people. We are all a "part of His plan." It's up to us to realize our spiritual potentials.
January 11th, 2008 | Dovid'l Weinberg [Hakatan] Lichvod the chashuva members of P.H.P., I just got through listening to the "sample" of your beautiful new record. A huge yashar koach! I love the songs and the vocals are soul stirring. May this CD touch the lives of many and bring a few more handfuls of yidden back to their roots. May we be zocheh to play together in the future. -Dovid'l Weinberg of Omek Hadavar
January 7th, 2008 | Yechiel (Jonny) Stein PHP is a web-programming language developed by Jewish Israelis. It stands for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor (what is known as a "recursive acronym"). In fact, it seems to be the language that your non-flash site is written in. For more information, go to www.php.net. Thanks for the great music!

June 10th, 2007 | Marcus Greenburg Hey I saw a flyer PHP with the Noki Kron band in the Rock. I cant wait too c u guys, I am sosososo excited! i can hardly control my self. I always check your clever writings, i enjoy them very much. I just had one question for PHP, On your delicious sight i noticed that 3 of the 4 members of the band dont have beards! theres alot of shmaltz talk, however, it seems its not so shmaltzy!!!!
PHP >>> Mr. Greenburg -
Your submission to the PHPjams Blog-board contained some inappropriate content and was denied submission to the site. Be advised that the PHP youth program takes such offenses quite seriously and strictly enforces a filtering policy to protect the purity of the future PHP generation.
The following phrases are considered 'explicit' and will not be tolerated by the PHP community council:
"Shmaltz;" "Shmaltzy"
Please revise your message and re-submit it to the PHP board.
PS - the author of this response should really be studying for his finals - and not wasting his time with this stuff.
Anyway, Marcus, we too are looking forward to the big gig in Far Roc. with the Nochi Band - hope to see you there - just try to keep the 'shmaltz' lashonos under control.
All the best,
- The PHP Youth Department

May 30th, 2007 | yoni krupka pretty cool stuff ya got going on here!!
PHP >>> cool rhymes with school, and stuff rhymes with tough - so in a certain sense, (al pi remez) your subconscious is expressing a frustration with "tough" school.
Fear not dear Yoni,
The four members of P H P are openning a practice to help our fans with the psychodynamic dillemas of human consciosness.
Until we get our PhD's, we suggest purchasing 35 PHP t-shirts - and obsessing over PHP Jams. If this does not help, you may want to enter inpatient treatment at a local psych ward.
Anyway, best of luck!
School is indeed tough; but so are you!
Best wishes,
- P H P Institute of Psychoanalysis.

May 15th, 2007 | Anonymous I know your name!!! Purple herring Project!
PHP >>> Hello Anonymous.
First of all, we know your name too.
The PHP intelligence squad has you in sight as we speak. The "anonymous" cover-up aint gonna throw us off.
Second of all, we will admit that we are associated with the Purple Herring Project, however, due to some political circumstances, PHP Jams and the Purple Herring Project are two separate organizations. We share a common vision, but its all from the escalator that we said the original thought after the first under the second.
Nice try though.
You get an "E" for effort.
Keep trying, don't give up on yourself!

February 25th, 2007 | Kurl E Peyos Whoa - I listened to your demos - your music is like one of those warm towels they give you to put on your face after a long plane ride! It's great to have your funky-spiritual vibe on the scene - please set up a show in 11691 so we can rock The Rock!
PHP >>> "Warm plane towels."
We get that a lot - especially when we were touring Japan in 74. Thats when Air-Shi-Zwa began the revolutionary trend to give their flyers 'warm towels' at the end of the ride.
By the way,
Are you related to the Peyos's in Gamehenge?

February 23rd, 2007 | David Edelman Hey Guys:
It's David Edelman, the crazy red haired homebrewer from Yeruchum Goldwasser's Danbury, CT retreat in Spring 2006. You guys rocked the house and it was my idea to have you guys play Hofstra's Purim Party hosted by Chabad. I hope all is well and make sure to give Shaya "the Killer!" Sussman a big Mazel Tov from me. Oh, I will be running Chabad's first ever HeBREWathon, I will be teaching people how to brew beer as we make a 5 gallon batch of the very finest this Sunday @ 6:30 pm. I would love it if you joined us. Hey Yo!
PHP >>> Hey dave. Yeah - those Danbury gigs were some classic PHP shows - tape-dubs from those shows are pretty rare. It was good to see you at the Hofstra gig. Nice costume. Anyway, we are very inspired by your Brew-a-thon thing. Good luck - and remember - drink responsibly.

February 15th, 2007 | David norman Hey guys I saw you guys rock out the other night,,, Donny man, love your guitar rythms! You have inspired me to take on guitar again,,,Thanks for the inspiration php,,,,,,,,,PHP Head for life - dave
PHP >>> Norm - it's great to hear from you, as always. You looked great in that dazzling new PHP t-shirt. Anyway, its good to hear that you're gonna revisit the rhythm lessons. Doni's been asked to give some shiurim b'inyanay sfek sfeka to the Brisk Kollel and may become a Ra"m in Ponevitz Yeshiva when he's not touring with PHP. So when he's out, you could play rhythms for us if you want to. If you want to. If you want. If you. If. Sorry 'bout that.
Anyway, keep practicing and keep wearing the funky PHP apparel.

PHP >>> Thanks Eric. Yeah, we had a great time jamming at the JMC. You wrote that you think we are the best thing out there in the jewish music velt. That's sweet of you to say. You sound like a special person; a warm and caring soul; a passionate yid. Its fans like you that make us proud to be The Purple Herring Project.

February 11th, 2007 | Ben from the Sounds of Simcha Music Lessons Studio Your band has a ton of talent and a really fresh sound. It was refreshing to see a new approach to Jewish Music. Your band was as tight as a snare and as slick as an oil spill. Keep up the great work.
Ben
PHP >>> Thanks Ben for your touching words. "Refreshing" is precisely what we try to give our fans. As you wrote in your letter, the PHP cabin has been working on an innovative approach to Jewish music. We're hoping that the upcoming debut album will bring the 'refreshment' to the gantza velt. You guys rock, especially when I'm trying to sleep downstairs! lol, j/k. remember aim? anyway, i wish you guys lots of hatzlachah and maybe you guys can give me a job as a roadie (seriously man i'm broke). Also down the line when I'm ready to record I expect some tips. Oh good your manager just offered to pay me finif dollars for being your guys' roadie. Great. Thanks.

January 7th, 2007 | Shimon HaTzaddik i have officially joined the jam...love Simon
PHP >>> Hey Simon - thanks for joining the jam. the jam just aint the same without you. In order to OFFICIALLY join the jam, however, you must spend a few weeks in the mikvah followed by an only-herring diet. In addition, we require 10 feet of purple peyis and/or a fluent memorization of the entire shakla v'taria of mesechas Yevamos. You may have missed these required qualifications specified in fine print under the picture of Oliver (the cute little dog in the gallery). So - I guess you've only UNofficially joined the jam - yet, there really is no nafka mina - so just enjoy the jams!
Sorry if this causes a bit of inconvenience. It's just the way the PHP administration has been run for the past several centuries dating back to when we were jammin in the shtettle.
Be well Simon.

December 30th, 2006 | Jerry Garcia the music is great keep it up!

December 30th, 2006 | rav zadok php gets hashpa from the side of kedusha from the sferiah of malchus
--this was revealed to me in a dream
PHP >>> Rav Zadok Shlit"a - we appreciate you sharing your dream with us. Indeed, it is for this very reason that we have a song entitled "Malchus" - based on the s'fira from which we draw our spiritual energy.

December 26th, 2006 | Admor Me'BUBKA The Don is the Greatest..... His spritual depth that he brings to the music has brought me so close to Hashem! My chassidim spend morning seder reading his heiliga kuntresim and his beautiful music! - Admoor Me' BUBKA (hameivin Yavin)
PHP >>> Harav Hagaon Admor Me'Bubka - It is truly an honor to have such chushuva chassidim as fans. Although most bands pride themselves on their female prutza fan-base, PHP has the heilegeh Bubka Chassidim sending us their shmoltzy she'rayim, and asking us to autograph their bekeshas and streimuls. We hope that PHP and Bubka Chassidus will remain eternally linked by the divine bond of Purple Herring. Be well - PHP
-------------------------------------------
December 24th, 2006 | Sandy Gulner Great music. I had a question if you guys had some time to answer. During your jams do you ever reach spiritual revelations, or is it purely a musical experience? I ask because I am very inspired by the songs, and I'm wondering if it effects the band themselves. P.S. I love the vocalist. Do all of you sing?
PHP >>> Not exactly sure what you mean by "spiritual revelations." A few of us are prophets, so it's pretty common for us to see funky visions and stuff.
Truthfully, we definitely get inspired and uplifted by the music. If not, we wouldn't put so much focus into it. "Jam Music" in particular, is pretty uplifting - it is entirely original, on the spot, creative energy.
PS. We don't all sing. Ahron Rosenthal is our vocal guy. When he was about five years old, he began to sing opera tunes in the shower. That's when he discovered his hidden talent. Our next album may be an opera composition with many of Ahron's favorites.
- Be Well, - PHP

December 23rd, 2006 | Rabbi L. Finer Amazing site! The Jewish music scene realy needs this. I'll tell you a funny story; my mother used to make shmaltz herring herself, and keep the fish in her bath-tub at home. I always get emotional when I hear about shmaltz herring and when I saw your refrences to "shmaltzy peyos" and "shmaltzing it up", I broke down crying. Waves of my childhood came back all over again. I really like your music, and I wish you much success! -Rabbi L. Finer, Rav of Amunas Chochamim, East Flatbush, Bklyn NY.
PHP >>> Harav Shlita -
We're very glad that you're into the music, and, yes, the Jewish music scene most certainly needs this type of creative improv. About your emotional childhood memories - we are sorry if we touched you in an uncomfortably personal way- please be mochel us; Kol HaKavod to your Mom - it is a huge avodah to keep shmoltzy fish in the bathtub. We at PHP headquarters know exactly how difficult the shmoltz can be at times. Chazak V'Ametz!

December 23rd, 2006 | Jeremy Fineuy and a better You guys are the best out there!!! This is a great website and the beginning of great things to come. I hope you guys are playing at the upcoming HALB dinner at the Sands in Atlantic Beach, if not, Dani should hook you guts up!
Pinny is the man! What a great guy and a better b in law!
Love ya!
PHP >>> Jeremy - it's great to hear from you. About your statement that PHP is "The Best Out There" - we can't help but agree. We are the best; better than the rest; nah nah nah kish kish!
Anyway, we will not be playing at the HALB dinner this year, because Shaya had a conflict on that night. He usually takes ballet lessons on motzai Shabbos, and when we even mentioned the possibility of doing the HALB gig, Shaya broke out in tears and ran away in his ballet slippers. Thankfully, he was rescued; but it's a touchy subject - so we're not gonna make it this year. Thanks for asking though! Take Care - PHP
